THE BINGO DIARIES CHAPTER 11 WHY FLIP McGREGOR

10-7-2010

McGregor appears to be at the very center of this investigation .
What could McGregor trade the DOJ in exchange for a lenient sentence ?
It would have to be GOOD , really GOOD .
McGregor has all kinds of corporate entities in his name and relatives names.
A guilty verdict for McGregor , would likely mean that the Feds go after everything remotely connected to him .
Who or what could McGregor have to wheel and deal his way out of this ?
The Governor ? Lt. Governor ?
It would have to be something of that magnitude , and even then he would still get more than a slap on the hand.
If anyone walks away unscathed by any of this , McGregor would be the one .
Riley seems an HIGHLY UNLIKELY choice , but McGregor is crafty and if anyone could play that card it would be McGregor.
Folsom MIGHT might qualify for " big fish " status , but he and McGregor have been in politics for a long time and its doubtful Folsom has any loose ends with McGregor.
Some one else would have already played the Folsom card if it indeed exists .

McGregor's best choice is to FLEE THE COUNTRY , but with a GPS anklet that could be a tad tricky .
McGregor is resourceful and the anklet might conviently have a malfunction at precisely the right moment .
Another possibility is that McGregor might visit a friend in rural Alabama that has a landing strip onsite .

McGregor has been scrutinized by the FBI many times before over the past 30 or so years , do not rule out the possibility he has a " friend " that can supply him with inside info .

All in all , McGregor has lived a charmed life for the last 30 years and if it all blew up in his face he still had a good ride .
LOTS of people would have been more than happy to have what he has and let it end like this .
Mountains of money on hand ensures he can appeal forever , and at age 71 it is unlikely he spends any time in jail even if he is found guilty.

Prediction : McGregor pleads not guilty and files motions to dismiss , suppress evidence, change venue , and about 2 dozen other assorted things .
